I have just returned from a delightful trip to Switzerland with Globus!
Itinerary:
Day 1, Sunday June 15, 2025 ARRIVE IN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
Day 2, Monday June 16, 2025 ZURICH–VADUZ, LIECHTENSTEIN–ST. MORITZ, SWITZERLAND. Optional Excursion we booked: Carriage Ride through the Roseg Valley (relaxing and beautiful!)
Day 3, Tuesday June 17, 2025 ST. MORITZ–LAKE COMO, ITALY–LUGANO, SWITZERLAND–LAKE MAGGIORE, ITALY
Day 4, Wednesday June 18, 2025 LAKE MAGGIORE–STRESA, ITALY–TÄSCH, SWITZERLAND–ZERMATT . It was recommended we pack an overnight bag for our stay in Zermatt. The tour buses are not allowed in the city as they are free of carbon emissions. They have only small electric vehicles throughout the town. If you truly wanted to take your big luggage you were responsible for it on the train to the hotel and back, cobblestone roads, uphill with stairs, I would not recommend this. It’s a good thing we had a large enough overnight bag that we were not inconvenienced. Zermatt was my favorite city, Globus will be adding an additional night in Zermatt for 2026 Best of Switzerland tours!
Day 5, Thursday June 19, 2025 ZERMATT–LAKE GENEVA Life on the Lake ZERMATT
Day 6, Friday June 20, 2025 LAKE GENEVA–BERN–LUCERNE Optional Excursion we booked: Swiss Dinner and Folklore Party : https://swissfolkloreshow.com/ Very entertaining and fun!
Day 7, Saturday June 21, 2025 LUCERNE Lion Hearted in Lucerne LUCERNE . Cable car going up to Mt Pilatus and world’s steepest Cogwheel train going down.
Day 8, Sunday June 22, 2025 LUCERNE–ZURICH AIRPORT
Hotel List (all hotels were nice, clean, and accommodating):
Mercure Zurich City located next to train station.
Hotel Saratz The hotel had amazing views of the mountains from the terrace. The hotel also offered hiking trails with access to the river.
Grand Hotel Dino (on Lake Maggiore, Baveno Italy) -My favorite hotel
Hotel Alex (Amazing swimming pool, be sure clients bring swim suits)
Mona Montreux Breathtaking views right on Lake Geneva
Hotel Romantik Wilden Mann (2 nights here) In Lucerne Old town, within walking distance to the Chapel bridge.
Keep in mind; some hotels do not have air conditioning, however you can open windows. We were accommodated with a fan which helped.
The weather was unseasonably warm, so I only wore layers for the first part of our trip, Mount Pilatus was amazing and I was actually sweating as we were hiking up the mountain!
Our tour guide Marco was very attentive, informative, professional, and even assisted in tracking bags for a guest when the airline lost them and made a special trip to the airport to retrieve them. Our driver Marcimo was great and kept the whole group safe.
The included dining options were great and expect a lot of veal dishes (Swiss Tradition). For those with food allergies or require vegan and or vegetarian dishes there were plenty of options to accommodate everyone.
If you may not know, Switzerland can get pretty pricey dining in restaurants and general shopping. However, there is an alternative that our tour director pointed out. If you wish to have a quick picnic lunch, you can go to the supermarket “Coop” and purchase pre-made salads, sandwiches, breads, cheeses, and meats for a reasonable rates.
Keeping the environment healthy is priority in Switzerland, they charge additional for forks, napkins, and bags at the store. Bringing a backpack and refillable water bottle is highly recommended in this Switzerland. I also feel this is good practice for any tour for responsible tourism.
Water from tap is 100% safe to drink; there are also plenty of water bottle filling fountains all over the park areas. Truly there is no reason to purchase a “bottle of water”.
If you want to use the nice bathrooms in Switzerland be prepared to pay one Swiss franc, otherwise you can use the “public restrooms” that may not be so nice.
