MY RECENT TRIPS
I recently visited The Big Island in Hawaii. We spent the first 2 nights at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott – lovely property! Located on 15 acres of volcanic landscape in Anaeho Omalu Bay, which is within walking distance to 2 different shopping areas. The beach is reached via walkways that show various volcanic areas and items of interest.
I spent time at the nearby Hilton Waikoloa Village. This Hotel offers a “wow” factor with its beautiful waterfalls and statues and the property is huge. They have 3 different towers on property. They offer a railroad tram and canal boat as a means of transportation.
Other properties I visited included; the Fairmont Orchid, the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keahou Bay, Royal Kona Resort, the Courtyard King Kamehameha and the Volcano
House, Hawaii’s oldest hotel.
My favorite experience was the Hawai’I Volcanoes National Park, Hawai’I Island’s #1 attraction. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and is celebrating over 30 years of continuous lava flow in 2013. This is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If your future travel plans include the Big Island in Hawaii, I’d be happy to assist!
More Adventures from Beverly Rother, CTA, ACC, ASA ...
Last year Beverly chased two of her passions – cruising, and space when she traveled with Holland America on their Total Solar Eclipse cruise in Australia!
View of the total solar eclipse that occurred on 14 Nov 2012 from the deck of the MS Oosterdam in the Coral Sea off the eastern coast of Australia. Movement of the sun in the video is due to the ship's motion.
Although the duration of totality was 2m36s, clouds obscured our view at about 1m20s into totality. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic sight to behold.
