MY ADVENTURES
A small ship, 6 star cruise line with outstanding lectures and expeditions by a crew that is SO dedicated to learning and immersing you into the Antarctica Experience. Priceless once in a lifetime destination!
A true 6 star luxury Expedition Cruise, with only 224 passengers, takes you to a stunning grey, black and white color destination, with abundant wildlife of penguins, whales, seals, birds, along with snowcapped mountains, moving glaciers, ice floes and ice formations abound!
The stunning blue of the exposure of the million year "old" ice was in stark contrast but absolutely exquisite!
Silversea offers 2 ways to reserve your cruise:
Door to Door, which is all inclusive starting from your home, with private executive style airport transfers, airfare, pre and post night hotel stays, prepaid gratuities, WiFi and premium beverages.
You can also opt for the port to port option, if wanted, to do your own air, hotel and transfers - especially if you want to extend your travel to other area destinations.
This was MY personal visit to the World's 7th Continent and one of the most once in a lifetime true expedition experiences! WoW! It won't be my last!
The Expedition Crew with their specialist lectures and guided excursions by Zodiacs were Outstanding!! These are experts in their perspective fields and they ONLY want you to experience "everything" to see and do in Antarctica with safety and comfort!!
The staff onboard is great and enhances your cruise and destination experience and I can highly recommend Silversea! They provide a Butler on every category who cater to your every wish.
The food was delicious and they have 4 restaurant options, besides 24 hour room service!
It is a real experience to travel the Drake Passage from South America to Antarctica. You can either have the Drake "lake" (calm) or the Drake "shake" (wavy). They also have an option to fly over the Drake Passage and cruise Antarctica but the majority of passengers traveled roundtrip by ship.
The weather was cold. You can only visit during their "summer months" with temps around 32 degrees F. I guess I'm a true Florida gal! Glad they provided warm weather clothing and accessories.
We MUST protect our fragile world and help save our planet with responsible travel! By Air, Land, Sea and Space!

I had the pleasure to cruise with my Mom (89) for a 12 day holiday sailing to the Caribbean on the Oceania Sirena, roundtrip Miami from Dec 22, 2023 - Jan 3, 2024.
This small "old Renaissance" R class// old Ocean and Tahitian Princess ship, was built in 1999 and last refurbished in 2019. Sister ships are the Insignia, Regatta & Nautica. Sirena holds 670 passengers but only 654 guests were onboard for this sailing. Tonnage is 30,277 so it's a small & intimate ship.
Very clean and nicely decorated. Oceania is considered a Premium line class. She has only 26 inside cabins and 308 outside cabins. We were in a concierge veranda but there is no dedicated concierge lounge due to her small size.
There are 3 restaurants onboard:
The Grand Dining Room
Specialty restaurants: Red Ginger & Tuscan Steak
They also have the Wave Terrace for al fresco buffet dining
VIP Chef Jacques Pepin and family was onboard this sailing and he gave cooking demonstrations to the guests and they had book signings onboard, with books offered in the gift shop.
NOTE: He is Oceania Cruises' Executive Culinary Director *AND* His daughter Claudine Pepin serves as the godmother of this ship!
The itinerary was busy:
Depart Miami
Cruising the Old Bahama Channel
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Gustavia, St Barts
Roseau, Dominica
St George's, Grenada
Bridgetown, Barbados
Pointe A Pitre, Guadeloupe
Phillpsburg, St Maarten
Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
Return Miami
They offer a very nice Aquamar Spa and concierge level (and up) which offers unlimited access to the Aquamar Spa Terrace with Thalassotherapy pool <and steam room>. I had a few spa treatments and spent every afternoon there! Quite lovely! There are minimal activities onboard during port days, but I can say it was relaxing and we DID enjoy our getaway and got plenty of Vitamin "Sea”. This is a picture of us celebrating New Year’s Eve!
Beverly was recently involved in NASA's Artemis1 Rocket launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida!
Artemis I is the first test of NASA’s deep space exploration systems, with the Orion spacecraft launching atop the massive
Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. This mission is the first in a series of missions to demonstrate NASA’s ability to extend human existence to the Moon and beyond.
I so enjoyed The Big Island in Hawaii! We spent the first 2 nights at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott – lovely property! Located on 15 acres of volcanic landscape in Anaeho Omalu Bay, which is within walking distance to 2 different shopping areas. The beach is reached via walkways that show various volcanic areas and items of interest.
I spent time at the nearby Hilton Waikoloa Village. This Hotel offers a “wow” factor with its beautiful waterfalls and statues and the property is huge. They have 3 different towers on property. They offer a railroad tram and canal boat as a means of transportation.
Other properties I visited included; the Fairmont Orchid, the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keahou Bay, Royal Kona Resort, the Courtyard King Kamehameha and the Volcano
House, Hawaii’s oldest hotel.
My favorite experience was the Hawai’I Volcanoes National Park, Hawai’I Island’s #1 attraction. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and is celebrating over 30 years of continuous lava flow in 2013. This is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If your future travel plans include the Big Island in Hawaii, I’d be happy to assist!
Last year Beverly chased two of her passions – cruising, and space when she traveled with Holland America on their Total Solar Eclipse cruise in Australia!
View of the total solar eclipse that occurred on 14 Nov 2012 from the deck of the MS Oosterdam in the Coral Sea off the eastern coast of Australia. Movement of the sun in the video is due to the ship's motion.
Although the duration of totality was 2m36s, clouds obscured our view at about 1m20s into totality. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic sight to behold.
