e flew nonstop Delta into Salt Lake City. The train departed the next day at 7:00am. They greet guests at the Asher Adams Hotel. Everything was very organized and the dome train car was clean and spacious, and the staff were ready to greet us. Getting on the train was exciting! We were booked into the Premier Class, so we had access to the Lounge viewing car that was a nice place to hang out and have drinks if you got tired of sitting in your assigned seat. Also, if you are booked into the Premier Class you will stay at the higher-end hotels. We were served breakfast, and the hosts talked about our journey and would give us highlights on our way to Moab. Upon arrival into Moab, we were put on a motor coach and taken to our hotel. We stayed at the Element Hotel a Marriott property. We hired a driver who took us to Arches National Park at sunset. The views were spectacular and the highlight of the trip for me. Later that night at the hotel I found a wall to lay down on and watched the amazing stars in the night sky.
The 2nd day we were taken again by bus back to the train and we were excited for our next stop, Glenwood Springs. We loved Glenwood Springs, we stayed at the Hotel Colorado. A very historic hotel and a 5-minute walk from the train station. Glenwood is a charming town with lots of little shops and restaurants and a big pool area right along the river with hot springs.. You arrive in the evening, so we didn’t really get much time to enjoy Glenwood. I would like to go back there someday.
Our next day was the long journey to Denver along the Colorado River. The views were stunning. The lounge car was fun, and the day was very enjoyable. Upon arrival into Denver, we departed the train collected our luggage and took the A line straight into the airport. We stayed at the Westin in the Airport and flew home the next morning nonstop Denver to Detroit.
I enjoyed traveling by rail, Canyon Spirit is very organized. I liked that they would handle all of our luggage, you would just leave it in your hotel room, and it would end up at the next hotel. This was a fun getaway and a great way to see this part of the USA on its 250th Anniversary.
