I had an unforgettable getaway in Bacalar, Mexico, (just north of Belize) and known as the Maldives of Mexico—an authentic paradise known for its breathtaking Lagoon of Seven Colors. This stunning lagoon, with deep cenotes, has crystal-clear warm water shimmering in vibrant turquoise and blue, and remains wonderfully untouched by mass tourism, offering a serene escape like no other I have experienced.

Bacalar is where the local’s vacation, seeking authenticity and a relaxed vibe. Experiencing the annual carnival in February, a vibrant celebration bursting with traditional music, colorful parades, great street food, and joyful community spirit was an absolute highlight. The journey it took to get there was so worth it and I can’t wait to return!
