NYC and NCL Aqua Inaugural April 2025

Tammy Jill Aqua Apr 2025We did the nonstop flight from Detroit to LGA and thought that LGA was easy to navigate. Project expeditions was there waiting to take us to the Marriott Marquis Times Square. The ride was about 35 minutes and it cost 160.00. Pricing can fluctuate based on demand.

While in NYC we did two Walks tours, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and then the Lower East side Food tour. Other than the weather, these were great tours. I loved both of the guides; they are what make the tours. We did a Big Bus hop on/off 3 day ticket and the night top deck tour of the city. The location of one of the stops for the hop on/off was only a block away from the Marriott, so it was a perfect location to access this for transportation. It runs from 8:00am – 8:00pm in season and was a great way to get around to the sights if you don’t want to do the subway, taxi or Uber.
Marriott Marquis – We loved the location in Times Square. The hotel is huge (51 floors). It was typical of what you expect at a Marriott, but the location was key. We had breakfast included along with a $40.00 per day food and beverage credit and we used that every day.
We had must eat foods while in the city. A slice of pizza, cheese cake, Pastrami at Katz, and Fish N Chips in an Irish Pub.

I was impressed with NCL’s new Aqua ship. I was really impressed with the cabin space. Storage is key with cabins and they came up with a lot of ways to create storage for such a small space. The beds were the best beds that I have had on a cruise ship, and the bathrooms were very comfortable and there was room to keep all of your toiletries actually in the bathroom.
Entertainment – there were many options for everyone, and the show was great. There were many bars and areas to gather in all areas of the ship. I did like that most of the restaurants had a bar by the restaurant to meet at before dinner. The bar options were some of the best that I have seen on a cruise package. Don Julio Blanco, Crown Royal and Makers Mark are a few that were at all of the bars and included on the package.

I feel that this would be a great ship for families or sports minded clients. The game room inside was a huge area with even 2 lanes for bowling. The outdoor deck for games had pickleball, shuffleboard and even beer pong and darts, and many glow games for the evenings.

I think what I like best about the outdoor areas, were that many small areas with small pools or a small lazy “creek” to offer many outdoor sun experiences with lounge chairs and a place to access water. Not everyone had to be packed around the pool. It seems like they really focused on smaller intimate areas for everyone. The water slide and the Ocean walk looked great, but it was way too cold to even explore. We were only able to see the common areas of the Haven since the ship was at 100% occupancy, I could see interest for couples looking to be pampered and to not have to experience the mass crowds. I think it is something to experience to get the full effect.
